Second Quarter, 2008:

• For Up To 20 pts:
  • 1pt extra credit for every pencil brought in to class.  These can be new pencils, or they can be pencils found laying around campus that you pick up and turn in to class.  Any pencil turned in must still have at least half of the pencil remaining and have at least some amount of eraser.

• 20 pts - Research Paper:
  • Must be 1 page typed, or one full page written by hand (if you have large handwriting, see me about whether or not it needs to be front and back).
  • Essay format
  • List at least three careers that require at least some amount of math.  Remember, even working at McDonald's requires that you have a little bit of math skills!
  • Using at least 2 sources, research exactly what kind of math skills are required to be successfull at one of those careers (jobs).  One of the resources can be to interview an adult on the subject, but one must come from either a valid online resource (college websites, online encyclopedias, news sites, etc.) or from a book.  You must list what sources you used, and where you got them from.
  • Must be turned in before Winter Break.
